Impact of Media on Reality

The media has a huge impact on people's perception of reality. There are so many different types of media from tv to twitter to facebook to magazines that are filling the minds of what reality should be.

Reality tv shows are making youth believe that the world is something that it is not. They are showcasing usually scripted scenarios to capture an audience, but that audience takes that as fact and believes that's how it is. Expectations for later life is usually installed into children's brains at a young age. Disney movies have a tendacy to leave kids thinking that everything has a happy ending and that every princess will magically find his princess and all that jazz when in reality it's not all that easy.

Modern day society lives of the media. Technology has come so far in the last decade and now news can be spread all around the world in a matter of seconds with the click of a mouse. Something that happens in the States, such as a school shooting, can quickly be spread online and affect the lives and emotions of people all over the world. Also, news stations own the media they relase therefore allowing them to bend the story all they want when showcasing it.

Media has really taken control of the thoughts and expectations of others in the last few years and will continue to do so more and more as the years go by and technology advances.

  1. Good use of pictures to help express your point. I also like your comment on how the click of a mouse can impact people. Don't forget to cite where you are using the photos from. Be a good digital citizen. You can look at my blog for an example of how to do it.
